The best character generator used to be Pathguy's, but WotC made him restrict it to only what's available for free in the Basic Rules. It's pretty much a whole new game under the hood, with only the labels still being similar. And lots and lots of details were substantially changed. Maybe he hates needing a website and not just having ownership of the sheet. You can save the bag for later sessions that way and fill it up as you buy new ammo. When I was running a ranged fellow I just deducted a reasonable looking sum from his gold early in the campaign and never worried about it afterwards. Don't know about your fights but our fights rarely last longer than 10 turns so that's more than 40 encounters. That's 400 turns of a level 20 fighter with crossbow expertise who does nothing but attack every turn.
